mystery skype  On Wednesday, January 7, Miss Rohlander's 4th graders participated in Mystery Skype with a school from an unknown location.  Taking turns asking questions, both schools were able to narrow down the possibilities by asking questions like... "Does your state touch an ocean?"  "Is your state east of the Mississippi River?"  "Are you in the Southwest region?"  By asking questions about landforms, major interstates, and landmarks, the 4th graders were able to correctly guess that the other class was from Oklahoma.  You can check out all the action and view pictures here!

squiggle book  The 1st graders have been learning about pitch in music class.  They learned that sounds can be high, low, or repeating.  After reading The Squiggle‚Äč, by Carole Lexa Schaefer, Mrs. Henderson asked the students to make their own squiggles to show what they know about pitch.  Each class made a musical book showing squiggles that make high, low, and repeating sounds.  Check them out here!

 hour of code
Throughout the week of December 8, students in grades 2-5 will join millions of students around the world in a special event, Hour of Code.  Students will spend an hour learning about the basics of computer science and will try their hand at coding as they create computer games.  Click here to check out the coding activities and try them at home.
